There's a reason why both casual and hardcore gamers tend to gravitate toward the brand, after all, and it isn't just because of its attractive packaging or black and green motifs. This is an impressive record, but by Razer’s own admission, this isn’t as big of a game-changer as you might expect, with the ideal sensitivity level for gamers said to be around 800-1600.

A compact, ultra-lightweight wired mouse packed with performance that punches well above its weightclass. The bottom rim of the dock features RGB lighting, and changes colour to reflect the battery status of the mouse.

Programming the on-mouse lighting, thanks to Razer's Chroma Studio, can be as easy or as complicated as you'd like it to be, depending on what pattern you'd design and how many Razer products you'd like to sync. Razer claims this is the best IPS figure you’ll currently see in a gaming mouse, with the second best alternative limited to 450 IPS. In real-time performance, this means you’ll be able to make quick, sudden movements – such as rapidly turning your sniper rifle for a perfect headshot – without fail.I went hands-on with the new peripheral to see whether those incredible specs can equate to an incredible performance. This marks a significant milestone for wireless technology, with the Razer Viper Ultimate arguably among the first gaming mice to offer a performance high enough to be considered for competitive e-sports tournaments. That isn't a problem, per se; both the Viper and Viper Ultimate are highly accurate mice worthy of the best players. It's more than just a number, too – you can see the performance from the moment you pick up the mouse from its cradle and start using it.

It’s a subtle feature, but ensures the Viper Ultimate never has to occupy two of your systems ports simultaneously. The benefits this brings to Razer’s mouse include the industry’s highest DPI sensitivity and inches per second performance. Razer has chopped away all the needless plastic to make its e-sports focused peripheral as light as possible. As we've seen throughout the year on mice like the Logitech G502 Lightspeed and the Corsair Ironclaw Wireless RGB, these connections generally work better than Bluetooth, providing a stable, nearly lag-free experience. Razer representatives explained the DPI switch has been moved to the bottom to prevent accidental knocks mid-game, which I think is a very sensible move and looks to be growing trend across the market. On top of that, very few serious esports players are going to use settings that will tax these mice at peak performance. Razer claims the Razer Viper battery life can last up to 70 hours – that’s with the RGB lighting turned off though, so expect the figure to be noticeably smaller if you’re unwilling to sacrifice the lightshow. This doesn't make it ideal for anyone who spends a lot of time playing games that require macros or abilities beyond four of them being easily accessible, but it's perfectly serviceable for just about any other gamer.

As a wired mouse with a true 8000Hz polling rate, experience unrivalled responsiveness with an industry-leading 0. If you purchase the version of the mouse with the dock, there's a second lighting element on the base. The Viper Ultimate isn't the lightest mouse on the market, but it is exceptionally well-balanced, and light enough that you barely notice you're pushing it around when you move your cursor. Designed especially for e-sport players, the Viper Ultimate sees the same streamlined form as the wired Razer Viper, cutting off any excess fat or buttons to see the weight fall to a feather-light 74 grams.Designed to be a true extension of a gamer, this deadly predator comes with our most cutting-edge technology, and is ready to sink its fangs into thecompetition.
