About this deal

Ok. This one is a serious trip for me. I bought this fragrance about 2 weeks ago off someone online. Upon spraying, It smelled like the worst pine cleaner-went stale smell I'd ever smelled. I flipped out on the guy who sold it to me, not Its predominant notes are patchouli with cocoa, vetiver and little else. It may have some wood, but the rest are very light notes.

I've never understood why one of the big perfume houses hasn't taken discontinued popular fragrances and re-released them under a designer label (Jean Paul Gaultier doing a 'Homage' range for instance of old French perfumes) La pelea dura algunos minutos y de ahí vienen las opiniones negativas. When the drydown arrives, you still waiting for the "Ba Ba Boom" aspect in it, but sadly, everything is pretty much gone. The fragrance, in turn, is very good. According to the manufacturer, opens with cocoa beans (slightly bitter) and fig leaves, bringing a mix of energy with aphrodisiac flair. Then, notes of patchouli in the heart and, finally, woody nuances of cedar and vetiver. The components of this fragrance are very well balanced, none stands out above the others, all are perfectly detectable but none is the protagonist, but rather they dance in unison during the life of this fragrance that is quite linear and has a decent duration with a moderate projection, rather perfect. for night use any time of year.

There has been some negative chatter regarding Jean Paul Gaultier's, Kokorico. It is certainly different, but a good different that deserves an opportunity. Today was my first opportunity to try this fragrance - while not my typical fragrance (I am drawn more to the aquatic and citrus blends), I find it appealing and sufficiently unique to portray a message, "it is good to be different"...

At that time I've never bought a designer fragrance before. I was still new to the game and didn't really know all that much or what I was looking for. Update your go-to men's aftershave with the range of designer aftershaves at Beauty Base. The lesson here is to never make your mind up based on how a fragrances smells off a scent strip. Off the strip, it smelled herbal and leafy and NOT in a good way.

Kokorico" is linear and only changes slightly after 20mt after apply, where an anise-like iris (and maybe lavender?) shows presence. To my nose is a very similar floral note as "Paul Smith Man"; soft, spicy iris note minimized to the maximum. The next week, I was compelled to visit the Kokorico tester again. Will it smell like bananas and rum this time? It did! And more like figs and more like cocoa once the opening transitioned into the dry-down (a 2-5 minute process.) And that squeaky note? Vetiver. I looked it up on Fragrantica on my cellphone and suddenly I could notice all 5 of the notes quite clearly (which kind of supports my theory that many of the notes we think we smell can just be the psychology of suggestion.) For the first time since years i smelled a designer fragrance (this one) which is not that good (understatement)in the openening and dries down better as the old powerhouse scents did in the 80's !!The estimate delivery dates are based on the average delivery time. However, as we cannot guarantee the speed of the courier service. The uniqueness of the fragrance, design of the bottle, and coupled with outstanding deal, Kokorico deserves a shot. The bigger message - it is OK to be different - it is what makes the "world go around". If the longevity and projection/sillage were greater, this would be a first class fragrance. All things considered, I still highly recommend adding to your collection. This fragrance is original in its way, quite different, I can understand some won't enjoy it, but calling it THE WORST? that's just gratuituous bashing IMHO ! Although I don't get along with it myself, I know that this is not meant to sit quietly un-noticed in the corner, rather it is being worn by a big, burly, moustachioed, muscular, hairy man-bear wearing a leather cap and chaps strutting to 'YMCA' With the world watching and saying "Wow!" as he performs(that's just expressive of the un-restrained fun and self-expression and attitude I imagine this fragrance to evoke).

Off skin and in the air, it's a different story. After a 5 second burst of pungency, it goes to a shaving cream like vibe and progresses to show cocoa facets further on. The cocoa is partnered by a hefty dose of greenness owing to fig leaf and patchouli. The drydown is almost entirely patchouli. The opening is interesting. I had never smelled rhubarb in a fragrance before, but I can definitly detect it, a natural-smelling rhubarb on the opening, slightly citric and sweet. It lasts for about 30 min, then comes the delicious cocoa + patchouli combo, which reminds me a bit of a younger brother of l'Instant Extreme from Guerlain. I prefer this one to LIEDG actually, both scent-wise (in the heart + drydown notes) and perfomance wise. Kokorico by Night is a performance beast, a good choice as a clubbing scent. This lasts about 8 hours on me, and even after a whole evening of frenetic clubbing I could smell it on me in the morning through my hangover lol. I wear this one for me. My wife likes even if she can’t find the words. She’s “normal” and either likes a scent or doesn’t. She doesn’t sit around all geekified like all of us trying to analyze what’s going into her nose. One drop from the Apo was enough to wrap me in a transparent aura, well perceptible even the next morning, but not slaying, not too dense.Honestly, if you're looking for an easy, simple yet different going-out gourmand for mid-season, this will do the job, especially among the young crowd (below 30). Its apparently on sale everywhere now. If you can grab a bottle at a low price as I did, go ahead. It's definitly worth it. Don't rely on the bad reputation on fragrantica, sample it for yourself an mTHEN make up your mind. Personally I enjoy it, it doesnt "wow me", but I'd still give it a 7/10.
