Characters are always shoving their hands through their hair to get it out of their faces, making me want to jump into the book and start clamping all these luxurious manes down with hair clips. The book itself just can't seem to get its pacing, stretches for enormous lengths of time dealing with Peter's relationships, repeating the same beats, thoughts and conversations time after time. The night was alive with the heartbeats of countless people. He walked among them, unseen, undetected, moving with the fluid grace of a jungle predator. Their scents were strong in his nostrils. Cloying perfume. Sweat. Shampoos. Soaps. Alcohol. Drugs. AIDS. The sweet, insidious smell of blood. There were so many in this city. Cattle. Sheep. Prey. The city was the perfect hunting ground.

The end of the book was super well done, and left me excited to find out what happens in the next one. I loved Prim, I loved the world Raluca built, and I am looking forward to reading more about both.After resisting his domineering ways and getting over her fear of him, Savannah reaches out to him and teaches him that he is not the monster he believes himself to be.
