If you want to enhance your home theater setup with a surround sound system, you'll also be happy to know it supports audio passthrough for all common formats. It runs the Google TV interface with a sleek look and an easy-to-use menu. It has a massive selection of streaming apps, and the TV's built-in mic supports hands-free voice control, so you can easily find your favorite streaming shows, even when you can't find the remote. If you want a Sony TV for the best home theater experience but find the A95L too expensive, consider the Sony A80L/A80CL OLED. It's a step down in overall brightness and color vibrancy due to its WOLED panel. However, it's still an amazing TV, with great processing and advanced audio and video format support. As 65-inch models are becoming increasingly popular, too, they’re also becoming less expensive, and we’d almost always recommend parting with a little bit more money to enjoy the benefits of such an impressive screen size. The Hisense UX is Hisense's flagship 2023 TV. It has fantastic contrast and is even brighter than the Hisense U8/U8K. Unfortunately, it's very expensive, has limited availability, and is only available in an 85-inch format in North America. It is, however, available in a 65-inch size in other regions, but overall, it's not worth the premium over the U8K. reversed. For instance, many of its TVs feature sound by Onkyo, a well-regarded Japanese HiFi hardware manufacturer. All of the 4K TVs we’re going to outline here feature Dolby Audio and a DTS™ Decoder. They also all feature HDMI ARC compatibility – for audio passthrough to a soundbar– which is pretty much essential if you’ve gone down the Sonos surround sound route.
The TCL QM8/QM850G QLED is one of the brightest TVs we've tested. It's a great choice overall, although the Hisense U8/U8K is a bit better and cheaper. Still, the TCL is the more vibrant TV of the two, so if you prioritize pop over accuracy or image processing, consider it. It's brighter than the Sony X93L/X93CL, making it more vibrant in a bright room. However, the Sony is the better TV overall, with much better image processing, Dolby Vision HDR support, advanced DTS audio formats, and a slighter lower response time. Not just for movies, the S95C is an excellent gaming TV. There's support for up to 144Hz refresh rate, VRR and ALLM across all four HDMI 2.1 ports and there's a dedicated Game Hub to organize all things gaming into one place, with Xbox cloud gaming compatibility as well. Frustratingly, there's no Dolby Vision support for movies or gaming, but ultimately the S95C's picture quality more than makes up for this.
