Applications are now open for the Sport England funded National Development Programme for Coaching Excellence, aimed at boosting the performance and skills of coaches across all equestrian disciplines. The Executive Coach of the Year award celebrates outstanding coaches who help executives and senior leaders develop their leadership skills and achieve their goals.

British Dressage is delighted to announce that the National Development Programme for Coaching Excellence for 2023-2025 will start on the 11 and 12 December with coaches selected from British Showjumping, British Dressage, British Eventing, Pony Club, British Horse Society and British Reining. It is refreshing to see investment in coaches to become high-performing at growing and sustaining participation at grass roots, as this is a highly skilled and demanding coaching role where the industry needs expertise and excellence. G TO G ONE: Coaching Excellence is not the issue – everything is excellent – it’s about relevance and context. Aforementioned, there are areas where progress has been limited, including the development of national licencing schemes, optimal data collection, statistics and monitoring structures, functional and impactful representation bodies for coaches, paid employment opportunities, standards and training for the Coach Developer workforce, and Continuous Professional Development processes. Living well beyond the 18-month course, it will provide the coaches with a support network to share their experiences as they continue in their career.Every leader attended The Coaching for Excellence Program to learn how to influence and inspire their teams. Through a variety of approaches and techniques, our coaches will facilitate you in finding your own solutions to problems and challenges related to your role in the organisation rather than simply providing answers.

This is an opportunity to work closely with a football-specific mentor or performance mentor outside of the game.Accelerating Coach Excellence (ACE) courses, certifications and community cover the aspects of coaching that are most essential for coaches to master, and that are often most difficult for coaches to do on their own. Louisa is a respected leadership consultant, coach and facilitator, working with international clients in the public and private sectors to achieve real learning and change. David is an active coach working with senior leaders, professionals and entrepreneurs around the globe. This will provide helpful two-way learning, ensure support is readily available and strengthen relationships throughout the pathway. It’s helped me see my purpose more clearly than ever, move beyond comparison and resignation, and deepen my self-care practice.

We want to ensure learning is spread as far as possible so these are opportunities to learn more about the work the group is undertaking, make connections and discuss the future for the women’s game. This course has helped me to take care of myself as a person and professional, re-adjust my work-life balance so I am able to give my best to the people I coach. Guillermo Calvo is currently undertaking his PhD at Leeds Beckett University exploring how different countries support the development of coaching as a profession.
